Russo Winery

Mike and I recently went on a tour of another local winer, the Russo winery.  Russo is up on Mount Etna, but has grapes located in other locations as well.

Off in the distance is the town of Castiglione

Our guide for the day was the son-in-law of the winemaker.  He is Australian, which was great because we could easily understand what he was telling us.
Our guide explaining the bottling process.

Most of their wines are aged in stainless steal tanks, but they also have some in oak as well.

Like most wine tours, they provided us with a nice lunch after our tour.

I think this might have been my favorite winery yet.  It is not a huge commercialized winery like some of the others, it definitely had the feel of a family business.  It sounds like they are working on getting better distribution in the US, but right now it seems there are only a few states where it is available.  I do believe NY and FL were included in those states, but he was unsure of where exactly his distributors are within the states.  If you can find it, I would recommend giving it a try.
